Reliability in Distribution Modeling—A Synthesis and Step-by-Step Guidelines for Improved Practice

چکیده

Information about the distribution of a study object (e.g., species or habitat) is essential in face increasing pressure from land sea use, and climate change. Distribution models are instrumental for acquiring such information, but also encumbered by uncertainties caused different sources error, bias inaccuracy that need to be dealt with. In this paper we identify most common link them phases modeling process. Our aim outline implications these reliability summarize precautions needed taken. We performed step-by-step assessment errors, biases inaccuracies related five main steps standard process: (1) ecological understanding, assumptions problem formulation; (2) data collection preparation; (3) choice method, model tuning parameterization; (4) evaluation models; and, finally, (5) implementation use. synthesis highlights consider entire process when applicability assessed. A key recommendation evaluate properly use dataset collected independently training data. support initiatives establish international protocols open geodatabases models.

Managing change in general practice: a step by step guide.

B.J 1992;304:231-4 Over the past five years general practitioners have been challenged by proposals from both the government and the Royal College of General Practitioners to fundamentally change the administrative structure and day to day running of general practice.`'Changes range from individual practice based innovations, such as developing structured surveillance for chronic disorders and ...

Approaches to formalisation of medical guidelines can be divided into model–centric and document–centric. While model–centric approaches dominate in the development of clinical decision support applications, document–centric, mark–up–based formalisation is suitable for application tasks requiring the 'literal' content of the document to be transferred into the formal model. Examples of such tas...

In most dynamic traffic congestion models, congestion tolls must vary continuously over time to achieve the full optimum. This is also the case in Vickrey's (1969) ‘bottleneck model’. To date, the closest approximations of this ideal in practice have so-called ‘step tolls’, in which the toll takes on different values over discrete time intervals, but is constant within each interval. Given the ...

Step-by-Step Migrations

This paper considers a dynamic model of industry location in which there is a tension between two forces. First, there is the agglomerating force of preference of intermediate input variety that tends to keep an industry at its original location. Second, other location factors matter and these tend to pull the industry in the direction of a new location. A crucial aspect of the model is that th...
